Our Cats

We said we we’re bats about Burmese, and we are. We have six active Queens, plus our beloved Bliss who is now retired, her brother Buster and her great-grandson Snowy whom we also adore.

CASSIE

MALAIKA Cassiopeia

Cassie is such a soft and loving little girl, always ready for a stroke or a snuggle and purrs with delight when she gets any attention. She’s curious and adventurous and always ready to play. She’s very good with our kittens and always plays gently with them, even when they bite her tail! She’ll soon be old enough to have kittens of her own, which will be a very exciting new adventure for her.

SAFI

MALAIKA Bright Saffire

We call her Safi at home because it slips off the tongue easily. Officially though she’s ‘Sarfi’, which is Swahili for very smart, very snazzy, very good looking. She really is a stunning looking cat – a Blue with blazing yellow eyes. The most delightful thing about her is her gentle and affectionate nature. She’s such a peaceful little being.

She recently had her first litter of six beautiful kittens which are now much-loved and enjoying their ‘forever’ homes. She was a perfect mother and we’re looking forward to her future litters with great anticipation.

BELLA

ADZWOBU Malaika Safibella

Bella (the first of Bliss’s daughters that we decided to keep) is a smoky Blue, by Bertie ( Yorcat Finn) who sired many of Bliss’s kittens before he retired to the life of a pampered pet.

She’s a funny cat – very loving, prone to sleeping in strange positions and quite talkative, especially when she’s pleased with herself. When she’s given birth to kittens, she’ll tell you all about it. Bella produces traditional smoky Blue kittens or Lilacs.

CHEEKA

ADTHIBU Cheeka Bunny

Cheeka Bunny is a gorgeous happy soul who was absolutely determined to stay with us. She’s a light-coloured Blue, also from Bliss by Bertie, and has a lovely temperament. She’s a beautiful caring mother to her litters, and often throws Lilacs and silver Blues.

She really is quite a character and definitely knows her own mind – she’ll put her foot on a food bowl and slowly pull it towards her, out from under the nose of another cat. If this doesn’t give the message she wants, she’ll just pat the other cat on the head until they go away.

BONNIE

MALAIKA Bonnie MyAngel

Bonnie, our most recent Queen, is a beautiful super-soft Lilac, from Cheeka by Boysie ( Seysiana SundayBest). She comes from a line of ten generations of Champions, and is a talker and a supreme hunter.

All the cats chase toy mice when you throw them, but Bonnie is truly exceptional. Her concentration and focus is intense – her eyes go wide, her ears go flat, and she’ll twist and turn in mid-air to catch a flying mouse, regardless of the direction you originally aimed it. She’s so fast no other cat in the house can beat her.

She loves to be the centre of attention and will insert herself between your hand and the cat you thought you were stroking!

A proud recent mother to seven beautiful kittens, she’s so happy and attentive to them.

TINKERBELL

MALAIKA Tinker Belle

Tinkerbell is also Bliss’s daughter, by Sonny ( Karlac Son-Ofsundance). She’s a Brown with the most beautiful and unusual eyes, which glow amber in the light.

She’s very like Bliss to look at with very long legs, but petite such a pretty thing. She’s a little sweetheart and at about two and a half years old, she’s just had her first litter and is a real delight as a mother.

She likes private what we call ‘Tinkerbell-time’. She’ll fly in to the office in front of you hoping to be the only cat in there. If she is, she’ll be on your lap on her back with her feet up, making puddings in the air and purring contentedly – you can’t help but feel special!

It’s a trait she’s continued as she feeds her own kittens – purrings, puddings and a proud and delighted look on her face.

BLISS

ADATEBU Malaika Bliss

Bliss is sister to Buster, and a beautiful Brown. As her name suggests, she’s pure bliss. She’s calm but playful, very snuggly, and another jumper fan! She likes to sleep across you at night, and will also fo for a pleasant amble on a lead if the sun is shining.

She was an exemplary mother who adored all her many happy kittens. Now that she’s retired she’s very content to play and sleep by herself, but still keeps a watchful eye on all new arrivals.

BUSTER

ADATEBU Malaika Buster

Buster, our senior neutered boy, definitely deserves a mention. He’s a beautiful Chocolate Burmese, with typically classical Burmese looks, and is brother to Bliss. He’s a big softie who absolutely adores cuddles (preferably up a jumper!) Once he gets to know them he happily snuggles with our kittens. He also likes regular walks on a lead so he can inspect his territory.

SNOWY

MALAIKA Snowy

Snowy is our second neutered boy – a handsome, boisterous, playful and loveable Lilac ‘teenager’. He loves kittens and he’s into everything, particulary liking to find and carry soft toys around like trophies. He’s given Buster a new lease of life as he now has someone big enough to play with.
